Today we'll pick you up from Marrakech in the morning, crossing the High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n'Tichka (2260m), to reach the village of Ait Benhaddou, the fortified ksar with its beautiful Kasbahs. Ait Benhaddou has served as a natural backdrop for many film producers. After lunch, we head for Dades via Ouarzazate, the Skoura palm grove and the Dades valley.
After breakfast, we continue our journey into the Sahara desert, taking the road around Berber villages to reach Tineghir with its beautiful palm grove. We'll continue on to the Todra Gorges, where we can walk along canyons some 300 m high, a favorite spot for mountaineers. We'll then head for the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga. We'll spend the night in Merzouga's Sahara dunes bivouac under nomad tents.
After a quiet and memorable night in the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, you can watch the sunrise over the dunes. We return with the camels to the hotel for breakfast and a shower, before heading off to Rissani to explore the local market (optional). Lunch in Nkoub, then on to Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Ouarzazate.
After breakfast, we continue to Marrakech with a detour to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet, a visit to the Kasbah el Glaoui and a drive through the High Atlas Mountains.
