We leave Marrakech After breakfast and then drive to Imlil via Asni. Imlil is the main trail for hikers, and a lively village. There is a constant movement of people coming down the mountain, and an equal distribution of the activity of those who are about to embark on the adventure. We meet our team of muleteers and once all our equipment is loaded, we start walking along the valley towards Tacheddirt, some 8kms beyond Imlil. Soon, the trail begins to increase as we climb to the Tizi N'Tamatert pass (2279m). We then go down the pretty village of Ouaneskra and continue, for another half hour, to Tacheddirt (3000m), where we usually camp near the river.
Crossing the valley, we start a long and slow climb to the Tizi Likemt pass (3555m). The course is quite difficult because there is a considerable amount of debris in the field. At the top, we enjoy our first view of the Toubkal massif, before a long descent to the village of Azib Likemt, where we will camp for the night.
This long but relatively easy day takes us through a variety of contrasting landscapes. From Tizi n'Ououraine (3120m) we enjoy other views of the Toubkal massif, including the summit, the east face and the Ifni Dome (3876m). The trail leads to Amsouzert, one of the most striking villages in the region, where we spend the night - dormitories - Gite in a simple village.
West of Amsouzert there are several small villages, which we explore and we make our way to Lake Ifni, the only lake in the massif. It is an unforgettable show, surrounded by rocky mountains and giant piles of rubble, and it is deep and unusual. We expect to arrive before noon and spend the afternoon relaxing at the beach. We even camp in this area.
By now we must be both good and air-conditioned, and ready to face the most difficult day of the trek. We make our way along a steep path that leads a slope of scree that seems endless. Finally we reach the Tizi n'Ouanoums pass (3664m), a narrow edge between two rock trees. From there, it is a long zigzag descent for Nelter Hut, a mountain refuge where we will spend the night (or outside the camp alternately).
We leave before dawn, following a well-worn route at the top. If the conditions are good, it should not take more than 2-3 hours to reach the summit, where we enjoy an unobstructed view of the entire Atlas range and the plain of Marrakech beyond. Back at the base, we then descend fairly quickly to the villages of Sidi Chamharouch and Aremd, before following the Mizane River, along a well-wooded path, to the beginning of the trail in Imlil.
After breakfast, departure from our lodge heading south, towards the Berber village of Aroumd (Aremd). Ascending and descending from steep slopes, the cut-out peaks of the Western High Atlas of the Toubkal massif stand in front of us. ) And the Adrar Adj (3,122 m) watch us throughout the journey, have lunch in the middle of nature and then return to the Lodge, take a shower and then transfer to Marrakech.
